The workshop is packed with information, including an overview of Kappler fabrics, detailed technical presentations, and critical protective apparel selection and use knowledge. The “Hands-on Hazmat Session” provides a series of challenging but fun exercises and competitions.
The agenda features a campus tour including our R&D and manufacturing facilities. Each day is capped off with casual lakeside dining at different locations on beautiful Lake Guntersville. Kappler provides delicious lunches and dinners plus hotel accommodations – you just cover travel expenses to and from our facility.
Our workshop is geared toward providing attendees with detailed knowledge of protective apparel and related topics. You’ll leave with a greater understanding of Kappler, an abundance of knowledge on chemical and biohazard protection, and an inside view of our mission to “keep bad stuff off people.”
Kappler University sessions are held in a dedicated training facility on Kappler's corporate campus in Guntersville, Alabama. Each session is one and a half days and can accommodate up to 20 attendees. All course materials, snacks, drinks, lunch and dinner are provided. Classes include a tour of the Kappler R&D and manufacturing facilities.

As Technical Director for Kappler, Philip Mann is responsible for technical support for Kappler’s protective garments. He has worked in the protective apparel industry since 1988, including research and development, technical support, training and product certifications. He is involved in training of professionals worldwide who specify or use chemical protective apparel. Philip serves as a member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Hazardous Materials Clothing and Equipment. He also has been involved in the ASTM F-23 Committee on Protective Clothing, the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology, the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, and the American Nuclear Society.
As Kappler’s Technical Product Manager, Miller Opolka focuses on product development, design improvement, and customized training courses specific to the needs of the end user. Through multiple projects with fire/rescue, medical, and law enforcement personnel, Miller has gained valuable insight into the demanding applications existing in the workplace. Miller partners with Kappler’s Technical Director, Philip Mann, in providing on-site educational classes at numerous facilities and training centers across the country. He has been a member of Kappler’s Research and Development Board since 2017.
